Keeping in touch
There are two primary tools to use for keeping in touch with your colleagues whilst you are working from home. These are the PBX system, 3CX, and our online chat and collaboration solution, Microsoft Teams.
3CX
You can use 3CX for making and receiving phone calls as you would normally in the office. Call quality and reliability is best when using WiFi, so remember to use this where possible. To use this system from home, you have two choices: either using your mobile phone handset, or using your home PC or work laptop with a headset (USB, bluetooth headset, Apple earPods etc).
Using your mobile phone
Install the 3CX App on your smartphone. There are versions available for iOS (App Store Link) and Android (Play Store Link). Once you download and install the App, you simply scan the QR code from the web interface (Settings -> Scan QR code at https://pbx.dentex.group/webclient) and your handset will be ready to use.
More information about installing the 3CX app on your phone is available here: https://dentex.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/43000551938-installing-3cx-on-your-mobile
Using your home computer or work laptop with a headset
If you have a laptop or desktop with a microphone and speakers (or a headset), you can simply log into the web interface for your extension here:
https://my.dentex.group/phone
Select 'Web Client' or 'Browser Extension' from the drop down box to the left of your availablity status (top right of the window). You should do this from a modern browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Your login credentials are available in the enrolment email.
From the web interface, you can use all of the functions as you would normally do from the office, including scheduling audio and video conferences. These features will only be limited by the speed of your local WiFi and Internet connection.
What can I do in 3CX?
In addition to making and receiving phone calls to your Dentex extension, you can also:
- Access and manage your voicemail
- Schedule audio and video conferences (external participants can dial in to a conference number)
- Start online video conferences & share your desktop for presentations (external participants can connect with a link or a dial in number)
- Monitor the queue calls for any queues that you a member of
- Access the directory of company extensions and contacts (including all practice numbers)
Microsoft Teams
There is a web interface for accessing Microsoft Teams, allowing you to collaborate with your team, hold web meetings, and chat one on one with other Dentex staff. The online version is accessible here:

You can also install Teams on your mobile phone. To do this, you will need to install the Company Portal app. Please see more about this here: https://dentex.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/43000547428-installing-the-company-portal-on-your-mobile.

What can I do in Teams?
The Teams interface is broken down into five main segments:
-
Teams – Join channels or create your own. Hold on-the-spot meetings and conversations, or share files.
Calendar – See everything you've lined up for the day or week, or schedule a meeting. Your Teams calendar syncs with your Outlook one.
Calls – Make audio and video calls to anyone using Teams (mobile, web or desktop)
Chat – Chat one on one or in ad-hoc groups with your Dentex colleagues, or external parties that also have Teams setup
Activity – Catch up on all your unread messages, @mentions, replies, and more.
