Sharing Audio During Screen Sharing in Microsoft Teams
Here's a quick guide on how to share a video with sound using Microsoft Teams, along with some tips to prepare before your meeting.
Step-by-Step: Share Audio in Teams
-
Join or Start a Meeting:
- Open Microsoft Teams and either join an ongoing meeting or start a new one.
-
Click on the Share Content Icon:
- During the meeting, look for the “Share content” icon. It’s usually located in the toolbar at the top or bottom of the screen, depending on your device.
-
Select What to Share:
- Choose the screen, window, or application you want to share.
- To ensure you share audio, always select "Screen" if you intend to share something like a video or music, as sharing a specific window might not transmit the audio.
-
Enable Audio Sharing:
- At the bottom of the share options, there is a checkbox labelled “Include computer sound.”
- Make sure to check this box before selecting the screen or window to share. This option enables the transmission of any sound playing on your computer.
-
Start Sharing:
- Once you've selected your screen or application and enabled audio sharing, click on "Share" to begin.
- You’ll see a red border around your screen or application indicating that it’s being shared.
-
Stop Sharing:
- When you’re done, click on the "Stop sharing" button, which is usually located in the same toolbar where you started the share.
Tips to Prepare Before the Meeting
-
Test Audio in Advance:
- Test your audio setup before the meeting starts. Open a Teams call with a colleague or use the “Meet now” function in Teams to ensure everything is working properly.
- Play a video or sound file to check that the audio is transmitted clearly.
-
Close Unnecessary Applications:
- Close any applications that are not needed for your presentation. This not only helps with performance but also ensures no unwanted sounds or notifications interrupt your meeting.
-
Adjust Your Audio Settings:
- Ensure that the correct microphone and speaker are selected in Teams. You can adjust this by clicking on the three dots (more actions) in the toolbar, selecting "Device settings," and choosing the appropriate devices.
-
Mute Notifications:
- Turn off or mute notifications on your computer to avoid distracting sounds during the presentation.
